The foundation of transformed and sustainable health care - lifestyle interventions for disease treatment and reversal.
About us
ACLM is the medical professional society for those dedicated to the advancement and clinical practice of Lifestyle Medicine as the foundation of a transformed and sustainable health care system. We are an internationally recognized provider of quality education and certification for those who seek to provide whole-person, root-cause care to patients. Unlike typical healthcare, lifestyle medicine focuses on collaborative patient-provider relationships and positive, evidence-based lifestyle changes as the basis of care. This broader range of treatment options empowers patients with hope and control over their health. Lifestyle Medicine is a branch of evidence-based medicine in which comprehensive lifestyle changes (including nutrition, physical activity, stress management, social support and environmental exposures) are used to help treat, reverse, and prevent the progression of many chronic diseases. For more info about Lifestyle Medicine, Membership, Events, etc., visit www.lifestylemedicine.org.

On Indigenous Peoples' Day, we reflect on the health disparities Indigenous populations face and emphasize the vital role of lifestyle medicine in improving their well-being. Mahima Gulati, an endocrinologist and lifestyle medicine practitioner, shares her experiences working on mountain reservations across the U.S. Dr. Gulati witnessed firsthand how limited access to healthy foods contributes to the rising rates of type 2 diabetes among indigenous peoples. Many of her patients endured significant emotional and mental health challenges exacerbated by their diabetes. As we mark the day, let's advocate for equitable access to resources that support a healthy lifestyle.
