The International Energy Agency (IEA) projects a massive surge in renewable energy, forecasting that wind and solar will meet half the world’s electricity demand by 2030. Dave Jones, director of global insights at Ember highlighted the importance of prioritizing energy storage and improving transmission lines to match this growth, stating, “The next half decade is going to be one heck of a ride.” With wind and solar at the forefront of the energy transition, at Ameresco, we’re proud to play a role in powering a sustainable future. Our Kefalonia Wind Project in Greece in partnership with PPC Renewables - ΔΕΗ Ανανεώσιμες is generating 10 MW of wind energy, supporting the island’s shift toward renewable power and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. On the solar side, our Fort Detrick Solar Array in Maryland in partnership with the US Army brings 18 MW of clean energy to the local community, contributing to a more resilient grid. We couldn’t agree more—renewable energy growth is set to transform the future of energy, and we’re ready to lead. How do facilities like the one at Keller Canyon help us meet our climate goals? At last week’s ribbon cutting, Liane Randolph, Chair of California Air Resources Board, emphasized the importance of RNG facilities tackling methane emissions from landfills as a critical part of the short-lived climate pollutant strategy. Congratulations again to Republic Services, Ameresco, Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Anew Climate, and LoCI Controls, Inc. for collaborating on California’s largest and most resilient landfill gas (LFG) to renewable natural gas (#RNG) facility. Want to learn more about RNG? Check out our one-pager, “Understanding Renewable Natural Gas” at https://bit.ly/AboutRNG. #ICYMI #Development #RenewableGas #MethaneReduction #Sustainability

Cybersecurity in our energy infrastructure is critical, especially as the number of cyberattacks continues to rise. The latest from Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) marks a significant step forward in bolstering our grid's defenses. On September 19, FERC issued two proposed rules aimed at enhancing cybersecurity standards for the U.S. bulk-power system. These proposals are important to be aware of. The first NOPR (Docket No. RM24-4-000) calls for new or modified critical infrastructure protection standards to address supply chain risks and safeguard our grid-related cybersecurity systems. The second (Docket No. RM24-7-000) introduces internal network security monitoring requirements, ensuring tighter controls both within and beyond the electronic security perimeter. At Ameresco, we recognize the importance of staying ahead of these evolving risks. As the energy landscape continues to transform, so must our approach to cybersecurity. https://lnkd.in/eyUTBBt3 #Cybersecurity #EnergyInfrastructure #GridSecurity #FERC #EnergyResilience
