At Alterra Mountain Company we believe the mountains are for everyone and we are proud that our mountains have been a part of the LGBTQ+ community's history, society, and cultures worldwide for a long time. Alterra is proud to host and celebrate both the longest-running Pride Celebrations in the industry and some of the newest celebrations in the mountains. 🌈 🏔️ Blue Mountain Resort 's Rainbow Ski Weekend is Ontario's longest-running LGBQT ski celebration. 🌈 🏔️ Mammoth Mountain's Gay Ski Week celebrated its 22nd year this past winter. 🌈 🏔️ Solitude Mountain Resort continues to participate in Salt Lake City's parade each June. 🌈 🏔️ Crystal Mountain Resort marches in Seattle's parade each June and introduced MTN PRIDE as a winter celebration within the past few years. 🌈 🏔️ Deer Valley Resort introduces their inaugural Pride Day this weekend. 🌈 🏔️ Snowshoe Mountain & Sugarbush Resort hosted their 2nd annual Pride Weekends this past winter. 🌈 🏔️ The Alterra LGBQT+ Employee Resource Group, "APRES," gifted destinations with the latest version of the Progressive Pride Flag this month. These were proudly displayed at resorts such as Stratton Mountain Resort and Palisades Tahoe. #InternationalPrideDay celebrates the end of #PrideMonth as well as awareness and appreciation for peoples' differences around the world, all year long. Here at Alterra, we are proud to celebrate all the colors that can be found in our mountain communities.

Alterra Mountain Company is proud to bring continued awareness to a cause that we care so deeply about in our mountain communities: mental health. After last year's success with "Paradise Paradox" (available to watch on Amazon Prime), this year we are partnering with the Winter Park Film Festival to sponsor their "Alive Film Challenge". This challenge is a filmmaking event focused on mental health and addiction, open to participants worldwide. Films should address these themes through a documentary, narrative, or animated format. The top 3 selected films will be shown at the festival on September 6-8 in Winter Park, Colorado and the final awards ceremony will be at Sunspot Lodge at the top of Winter Park Resort. The winning film will receive a monetary grant, camera rental package, and full production support for the future. Deadline to submit a film is August 11. “The Ropeway Maintenance Technician Level One Certification program is four hours of lecture with Colorado Mountain College in the morning and then in the afternoon you go to a ski resort and spend time actually putting what you learned in the classroom into practice,” explains Hannah Barrego, Director of Operations for Alterra Mountain Company “It gives you the hands-on experience and helps train team members faster because they’re not doing it on the job. They can really slow down, focus and ask questions.” Read more from Snowbrains: https://lnkd.in/gw3PzN2Q

The Ute, Arapaho, and Cheyenne people lived in the mountains of Winter Park Resort and the Fraser Valley, long before today’s residents and tourists arrived. Today, Winter Park Resort has embarked on an effort to educate skiers and snowboarders about the fuller history of the area with new trail markers, historical plaques, and art projects, each designed in partnership with the organization NativesOutdoors.
