💛New in Stories💛 Aligned with Love: Meet Ali Huntoon “I grew up in Bay City and attended Bay City Central. I was definitely always a more outgoing dance, choir and theater kid, but I didn’t get involved in other groups outside of school or do much volunteering. High school was fun, but I felt I had to be a particular person, look a certain way, and follow specific paths. After high school, I attended Alma College. It wasn’t until my junior year of college that I realized I could do whatever I wanted—I could reinvent myself as many times as needed. I often tell people now, “You’re never too old, and it’s never too late.” It’s all possible, whether it’s starting a new hobby, building your own family, or becoming a different version of yourself. During my junior year, I finally started coming into my own. I started coming out of my shell more and doing things that my inner child loved - like wearing tie-dye shirts all the time just because I loved them. Hi, I'm Meghan Dahl, Licensed Master Social Worker, supervisor in Psychiatry and the Partial Hospitalization Program at MyMichigan Medical Center-Midland, and member of the Midland Area Wellbeing Coalition. A quote that is inspiring to me is "Happiness is an inside job," quoted by William Arthur Ward. The reason I find this quote so inspiring is that it encourages me to focus on the areas of life that I can control in order to foster happiness. So often, I catch my own false belief that how happy I am depends on other people around me, or things outside of my control. This quote supports my wellbeing because it empowers me to focus on my own needs, values, and actions to create the headspace that I want. So, what can you do to foster your own happiness today?
