New Merch Alert! "But have you tried drinking more water?" We've all heard the unsolicited advice. Yes, hydration is important but no, it's not a "cure" for your headache disorder. 🙄 So let's have some fun with it and raise funds for The Headache Alliance in the process! AHDA & THA are dedicated to advocacy efforts that can result in better treatment for all headache disorder patients
About us
The ADHA is comprised of nonprofit organizations who are vitally concerned about the health of patients with headache disorders including migraine disease, cluster headaches, chronic daily headache, new daily persistent headache and tension-type headaches. Since 2007, AHDA has advocated consistently for increased recognition of, and more equitable federal policies toward Americans with disabling headache disorders. These advocacy efforts have been expressed through annual Headache on the Hill (HOH) congressional fly-in events in Washington, DC, as well as multiple other activities throughout the years. In 2023 we founded a 501(c)(3) sister entity, The Headache Alliance, to build upon the mission of the AHDA by focusing on education, large-scale communications campaigns and support for early stage research. AHDA is a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization, as classified by the IRS. Contributions to section 501(c)(6) organizations are not deductible as charitable contributions on the donor’s federal income tax return.

You may have noticed a new logo and name added to our social media profiles. Who is THA? The AHDA is so excited to announce the creation of our 501(c)(3) sister entity, The Headache Alliance (THA)! THA broadens the impact of the AHDA’s work by engaging in year-round education and programing, conducting large-scale public awareness campaigns and, with the support of dedicated headache advocates like you, increased funding for headache disorder research. The creation of THA, with a mission of improving the quality of life of those living with headache disorders, allows the AHDA to focus exclusively on legislative advocacy. Together THA and AHDA will work to create a better world for every person living with migraine and other headache disorders! Want to support THA's work? August is Gastroparesis Awareness Month. Gastroparesis affects around 5 million individuals in the U.S. and can drastically impact a person’s everyday life. It can impact relationships, work, social interactions and more. Many people with migraine also experience Gastroparesis during and in between migraine attacks which can even impact the effectiveness of oral acute medication due to slow absorption. There's no one size fits all approach to treating migraine and patients deserve access to the medications that work best for their individual circumstances.

Earlier this month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) officially recognized traumatic brain injury (TBI) as a chronic health condition. It is estimated that around 5 million Americans live with a brain injury related disability and brain injuries are a leading cause of secondary headache disorders. This recognition is an important step towards expanding coverage for brain injury care and assuring that those with brain injury have the proper support and resources they need. The AHDA is pleased to see this recognition for TBI. We will continue to advocate for those living with headache disorders related to brain injury.
