Delaware, California Pass Laws to Support Food Allergy Families! Our advocacy efforts are truly making a difference. Delaware has just enacted a groundbreaking law mandating insurance coverage for the early introduction of food allergens for infants, paving the way for safer and healthier futures. Meanwhile, California has become the fifth state to pass Elijah's Law, ensuring daycare facilities implement policies to protect children with severe food allergies. These legislative victories highlight the power of advocacy and collaboration in creating a safer environment for our children. Together, we're making strides toward a more inclusive and supportive community for all families navigating food allergies. 💪💙 Read more about… 👉Delaware:https://lnkd.in/e9seP7jK ➡️California: https://lnkd.in/ducMyBnr 🗣️AAN Advocacy: https://lnkd.in/ewGkCUEX #FoodAllergies #Advocacy #ChildSafety #HealthEquity #CommunitySupport

Today marks the 20th anniversary of a landmark law that’s helped keep students with asthma safe at school. The Asthmatic Schoolchildren’s Treatment and Health Management Act (ASTHMA), signed into law on October 30, 2004, ensures that students across all 50 states can self-carry and use their quick-relief inhalers when they need them most. 🫁✨ At Allergy & Asthma Network, we’re proud to have played a key role in getting this legislation passed. But our work isn’t done. Many families still don’t know their children have this right, and not all schools have policies in place to support it. That’s why we continue to raise awareness and advocate for safe asthma care in schools – including stock albuterol programs. 💙 Seconds matter during an asthma flare, and students deserve immediate access to life-saving medication. Join us in spreading the word! ✨ #ProTip from Kortney Kwong Hing! ✨ Living with multiple food allergies and eczema means being extra cautious – even in places you've been many times before, like the hair salon. 💇♀️ 🏃♀️ Arrive 10-15 minutes early to double-check the ingredients in the products your stylist plans to use. While you've used them before, manufacturers can change things without notice! 🙅♀️ To stay stress-free and get the most out of your appointment: ✔️ Bring your own shampoo (just in case!) ✔️ Use that time to read labels, so it doesn’t cut into your haircut time ⏳ ✔️ Get your full salon experience without worries! Healthy hair, happy scalp, and zero flare-ups! 🌿 Special thanks to Genentech for sponsoring this awareness campaign. https://lnkd.in/gPmrBQUk #FoodAllergyLife #EczemaTips #HealthFirst #AllergyAware #HairSalonHacks #SelfCare #FoodAllergies #Salon #HairSalon #HiddenAllergens

Were you not able to attend our recent ‘Chronic Urticaria: Meeting Patients’ Needs On Their Journey to Diagnosis, Management and Treatment’’ webinar with allergist William Berger, MD? Here are the key takeaways for you! 1️⃣Acute urticaria lasts less than six weeks and is often caused by things like food or medicine allergies. Chronic urticaria lasts longer than six weeks and can be linked to autoimmune diseases, infections, or problems with mast cells. Chronic urticaria can affect a person’s daily life and sometimes happens with swelling. 2️⃣When diagnosing urticaria, it's important to ask about the start, frequency, and triggers, such as food, medications, stress, or infections. It’s also helpful to know about the person’s family, social, and work life to find out what might be causing the problem. 3️⃣Urticaria is usually treated with antihistamines and by avoiding known triggers. For chronic cases, doctors may look for autoimmune or mast cell issues. In some cases, medications like biologics, which targets IgE, may be used if regular treatments don’t work. 4️⃣Some types of urticaria are triggered by physical things like cold temperatures, exercise, or pressure on the skin. These reactions can range from mild to severe, and avoiding triggers is key. In some serious cases, like cold urticaria, people may need an epinephrine shot to prevent dangerous reactions. 5️⃣The main treatment for urticaria is using second-generation antihistamines, which are safer and can be taken in higher doses. First-generation antihistamines are not recommended because they can cause drowsiness and other side effects. If these don't work, doctors may try stronger medicines like Omalizumab or cyclosporine. It's important to watch for side effects and check how well the treatment is working over time. ➡️We have the full recording and transcript of the webinar available at our website for your viewing! https://lnkd.in/gj--pqWJ
