After more than four decades of dedicated service, the KC-10 Extender took its final flight. Since its introduction in the early 1980s, the KC-10 has been at the heart of global reach for the U.S. Air Force and its allies, ensuring that our nation's aircraft and personnel were fueled and ready to accomplish their mission anytime, anywhere. From Operations Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and countless other missions, this aircraft has been a cornerstone of power projection for the United States and our global partners. However, the KC-10's story is about more than just the aircraft. It's about the thousands of dedicated Airmen—pilots, maintainers, aircrew, and support teams—who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. You ensured that “Big Sexy” continued to extend America’s reach, no matter the challenge or distance. Thank you for your dedication, service, and the legacy you’ve built that will inspire future generations of mobility Airmen. How does AMC stay ready to support large scale military operations worldwide? On a panel at #AFANational, Gen. Johnny Lamontagne discussed his approach to mobility readiness. “For us, exercises are really about the opportunity to rehearse. Exercising the mobility forces at a Joint level allows us to project, sustain and employ the entirety of the Joint Force.
