So much of #farming is mitigating risk. Planting at the right time, spraying to protect the trees from disease or pest, or choosing the right variety/cultural practices. The longer I’m in this business, the more I see it. Here is the difference between a farm that applied a #fungicide before the rain (left) and one that did not (right). Same variety, same age, and across the road from each other. The disease is #almond #anthracnose. The disease will cause 50% crop loss. The farmer may not survive the year. All because they didn’t want to mitigate the risk of a spring rain.
