We’re thrilled to announce our first call order with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of Grants (OG), supporting the Software Integration and Frontend Technology (SWIFT) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to provide Product Strategy and Delivery Management support for the modernization of the Simpler Grants initiative. With over 10 million annual visitors, Grants.gov provides access to nearly $300 billion in federal funding. While building out Simpler Grants.gov will take time, we’re focused on near-term improvements to the “find” functionality, making it easier for users to locate the grants they need. These enhancements will provide users with meaningful improvements in finding and applying for grants in the near term, even as larger updates are in progress. The SWIFT initiative will strengthen social well-being, equity, and economic resilience by improving user experiences across HHS and non-HHS grants, making funding more accessible to communities that have historically faced barriers in navigating federal grants. Many Veterans face the frustration of navigating inconsistent interfaces and being forced to re-enter personal information when they access VA.gov With this initiative, we will develop standardized, reusable design patterns and components that streamline digital interactions for authenticated users, providing our Veterans a seamless, efficient, and user-friendly interface. These enhancements will reduce repetitive tasks and improve the overall experience on VA.gov, allowing Veterans to navigate between authenticated content, applications, and the rest of the site without hassle. This work is supported by the Technology Modernization Fund, and at the end of the period of performance, the developed patterns and components will be handed off to the United States Web Design System (USWDS) for potential reuse across federal agencies.
