As we wrap up our celebration of Pride Month, Dana Baylous (she/her), Training Lead, shares how the LGBTQ+ @ Affirm ERG has united employees across the company while fostering a personal sense of belonging for her and others. #pridemonth #affirmers #unity “The LGBTQ+@Affirm ERG has given me a space where I can be myself, connect with amazing colleagues, and feel truly supported. I have been able to show up as my full self at work and even more, welcomed, recognized and embraced. I have also had the chance to create intentional and amazing intersectional educational opportunities by collaborating with other ERGs. It’s a vibe and honestly, being part of the LGBTQ+ ERG has turned Affirm into a place where I really feel that I belong.”

Our president, Libor Michalek, joined Jennifer Taylor at this year’s Plaid Effects to discuss the future of finance. Watch the full conversation to learn more about how Affirm responsibly extends access to credit by using real-time data to inform our underwriting, finding product market fit, and how the most simple things can be game changers. https://lnkd.in/gxSXSmQc  🤝 “What was exciting was the idea that the product was aligned with the consumer. When the consumer does well, we share in the positive outcome. If they get the unexpected, and we get it wrong, we both share in the negative outcome. That alignment was interesting. It's simplistic but it felt like a game changer.” 💡“A lot of our ideas over the years have come from customers. Our customers and the feedback that they've given us have made us a better company and a better team…The simplicity of Affirm is what really drove adoption.” 🧮 “Using data to underwrite a customer is powerful. As we think about how we can best help customers, it’s the ability to give them feedback to help explain credit decisions. To be able to do that in a way that is actionable, useful, and relevant is for that data to be as up-to-date as possible.” 🚀 “Plaid has been a great partner. Understanding cash flow and balances of accounts and being able to model that as a part of our understanding of a consumer's ability to repay was the basis of us working together. That's expanded as our product portfolio has expanded.”

As we continue our celebration of Pride Month, Tatianna B. (she/they), Customer Advocacy Specialist, shares how the LGBTQ+ @ Affirm ERG has empowered her through career growth opportunities. #affirmers #pridemonth #empower “When I joined Affirm in 2021, I was seeking a sense of belonging and a community that would understand me and offer opportunities to engage in activities beyond the confines of my computer screen, especially as we navigated the work-from-home environment. I was warmly embraced by the LGBTQ+ ERG, which not only provided me with a sense of community but also facilitated invaluable connections across various teams, something I couldn’t have achieved on my own. In our team, we foster a culture of mutual support and daily assistance, a culture that is strongly backed by the ERG. The ERG has provided me with a nurturing environment where I can flourish, and for that, I am deeply grateful. It has exceeded my expectations and I am sincerely thankful for the opportunities and support it has offered me.”

Affirm’s Founder and CEO, Max Levchin, recently joined Yahoo Finance’s Brian Sozzi to discuss the latest news in tech, investing, artificial intelligence, and consumer finance. The conversation outlined how the rise of Affirm and honest financial products represent the unbundling of the credit card, why Affirm doesn’t charge late fees, and the importance of having high conviction when building products that address major societal challenges. Highlights include: ⏱️ “Things that are worth doing take time…if you put the right foundation and continue iterating you really get some extraordinary results. The idea of unbundling the credit card is here to stay.” 🤝 “Whenever you charge late fees, you're fundamentally misaligned with your customer. The consumer is stumbling either because they're a sloppy payer or something happened. The idea of taking money with an extra fee on top of it just seems so profoundly wrong for a customer obsessed company…When we started, everyone laughed at us that we wouldn't charge late fees. Today, more than half of all pay-over-time products like Affirm do not charge late fees. We've caused a real shift.” 💊 "The thing that makes this industry unique is we are not bucketing all of your payment obligations into this single thing that just sits there, gathering incremental interest. Pay-over-time products are the antidote to that.” ⚙️ "I am someone who loves building products. That’s what drives me. The conviction that I have is real. We have a long way to go.”  Watch the full interview here: https://yhoo.it/3z7wzGE

As we celebrate Pride Month, members of our LGBTQ+ @ Affirm ERG share their perspectives through the lens of each pillar of this year’s Pride Month theme, “Reflect, Empower, Unite.” Megan Berta (she/her), Training Specialist and LGBTQ+ @ Co-Lead, reflects on how her participation in the ERG has impacted her time here. “Starting a role at a new organization can be daunting, but joining LGBTQ+@ when I started at Affirm connected me with colleagues that shared my interests and values. From the start, I felt a sense of belonging that set Affirm apart, and the connections I established early on have developed into lasting friendships. Now, as I step into a leadership role within the ERG, I am honored to give back to the community that welcomed me. I hope to nurture an environment where every employee, new and tenured, can feel the same warmth and acceptance that I experienced.” #Affirmers #community #pridemonth
