🏛Earlier this week, ASTM had the pleasure of hosting a distinguished team of delegates (3DP researchers, surgeon, and radiologist) from Queen Elizabeth Hospital Hong Kong for a tour of Singapore’s Medical Additive Manufacturing (AM) scene. 💡We started the first visit to ASTM International's office followed by visits to some of Singapore’s leading institutions and companies conducting AM activities for healthcare for the rest of the week, including: • Hospitals: Singapore General Hospital & National University of Singapore • Healthcare company: Osteopore (OSX.AX) • IHLs: A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research (Additive Innovation Centre (AIC) @ A*STAR SIMTech/ARTC), Nanyang Technological University Singapore (Singapore Centre for 3D Printing), and National University of Singapore (AM.NUS) • OEM: Nikon SLM Solutions • SMEs: ELH TECH Additive Manufacturing and Forefront Additive Manufacturing This collaborative exchange was a major step toward leveraging Additive Manufacturing to advance healthcare solutions across Asia. We’re excited about the possibilities and look forward to growing this collaboration further! #AdditiveManufacturing #AMinHealthcare #MedicalAM Alex Liu Andy Lu Aloysius Tay Swee Leong Sing Yujing Lim

Thank you IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show for hosting our additive manufacturing panel yesterday! It was great to have ASTRO President Neal Orringer join Stifel Financial Corp., Stifel Institutional's Mark Morrissette and ASTM International's Richard Huff for an enlightening discussion on the role public-private partnerships can play in boosting capital into critical defense supply chains. As a key component of the Biden Administration's AM Forward initiative, we're focused on helping small/medium sized suppliers address three challenges to adoption of critical manufacturing technologies: access to capital, workforce development and retraining, and qualifying AM processes for specific component production. That's why ASTRO America has teamed up with Stifel North Atlantic and several advanced manufacturing leaders, including ASTM International, to build a private equity fund as part of the administration's SBIC Critical Technologies (“SBICCT”) initiative. The fund will help modernize key supply chains, aiding in the accelerated adoption of technologies (such as metal 3D printing) that are increasingly important to America’s defense and aerospace industries. #IMTS2024 #additivemanufacturing #AMForward #3DPrinting #supplychains #defense #aerospace

A great showpiece for Additive Manufacturing and Standards Development at the MTC - Manufacturing Technology Centre this week. The 12th Snapshot workshop covered some great topics, from making humans aquatic with DEEP, performance based qualification with Domin, routes to successful commercialisation of AM with 3T Additive Manufacturing Ltd, discussion on the now released Aerospace Technology Institute AM Roadmap, and many other great talks. Strong progress was demonstrated in Standards development, including the new OEM led Certification activities from ASTM Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence, based on Standards. Finally, it was great to get the ASTM UK team all together in person for the first time, and a big thank you to our hosts david wimpenny, Benjamin Dutton, Wilson Vesga Rivera, and Ruaridh Mitchinson. Special mention also to our ISO and BSI colleagues for their hard work to get a great event together. ASTM UK team: Alberto Bordin, Lauren E., Carl Hauser, and of course Mohsen Seifi!

💡Insightful AM Roadmapping Discussion at the 12th Snapshot Workshop! A thought-provoking panel on additive manufacturing roadmapping, moderated by Robert H. of Additive Manufacturing Solutions Ltd., was a key highlight of the event. Notable takeaways: ▪ Roadmaps are essential for aligning industry, academia, and government around a common vision and actionable steps to drive AM adoption. They help translate aspirations into tangible actions. ▪ Successful roadmapping requires ongoing engagement, review, and updates to keep pace with the rapidly evolving AM landscape. Incorporating new ideas and diverse stakeholders is crucial. ▪ Integrating roadmapping efforts across borders and leveraging international collaboration can help minimize duplication and accelerate progress. Aligning public funding programs with roadmap priorities is also important. ▪ Standards development must be closely linked to roadmapping to enable the industrialization of AM technologies. Roadmaps can help identify key standardization needs and coordinate efforts. We're excited to see how industry roadmaps evolve and translate into real-world impact for the AM industry. Panelists: Matthew Bailey (Aerospace Technology Institute), Francisco Medina (The University of Texas at El Paso), Ruaridh Mitchinson (MTC - Manufacturing Technology Centre), Carl Hauser (Wohlers Associates, Powered by ASTM), Fred Liza. #AdditiveManufacturing #Roadmapping #StandardsDevelopment
