At Action for Children, we're proud to recognize Black Breastfeeding Week as part of the month-long celebration of Breastfeeding Month throughout August. Today, we're excited to share Deanna’s(Help Me Grow Participant) inspiring story. Deanna chose to breastfeed to provide her baby with the healthiest start and to build a close bond. "The close bond I had with my child for the 5 months that I was able to breastfeed was the most rewarding part," she says. Despite facing challenges with her milk supply, the support from a lactation consultant guided her through. Her message to other Black moms: "The bond you have with your baby is special, and knowing the milk she is receiving is healthy and from me made it all worthwhile."
