About us

Achieving True Self provides treatment and consultation services to individuals, families and their surrounding communities (schools, organizations) impacted by one or more behavioral health diagnoses, including those affected by an autism spectrum disorder in Maryland, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Our team takes pride in creating innovative plans grounded in evidence-based practice in order to help people of all ages achieve their unique goals. We recognize that each and every person’s journey is different, and therefore our approach to treatment capitalizes on a person’s strengths and desires in order to address deficits. Treatment is delivered utilizing techniques based in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). ABA has over five decades of scientific research validating its effectiveness. We utilize such research-based interventions so that our consumers can feel confident in service delivery. We recognize that to provide the best services, you need the best team members. At Achieving True Self, we continue to develop a team of highly experienced clinicians and motivated administration who are eager to grow personally and value ongoing professional development. We are passionate about meeting our consumers and families where they are, and are committed to providing quality care with integrity. At Achieving True Self - people matter.

#ATS #AchievingTrueSelf's #FeatureFriday spotlight is on ... Bradley Lind, Behavior Consultant! (BC-ABA) Current Work Area: Cumberland, Dauphin, and York, PA Hometown: Etters, PA Joined ATS In: January 2024 A Little Bit About Bradley: "Married for 15 years. Two kids: Cassie is 14, and Josh is 9. We have 2 bunnies (Flops and Flips), and 2 cats (Tara and Tia). Our whole family is obsessed with anything penguin-related with lots of penguins around the house and know lots of penguin facts." What Bradley Does In His Free Time: "Right now, our free time is spent almost exclusively doing marching band activities. My wife is on the executive board for the music boosters. Cassie plays the vibraphone in the band, and I help make and put together props that are used for all the football games and marching band competitions. So during marching band season, 3 evenings a week are spent at the school for band, with most Saturdays being at competitions, which can last all day (with getting props set up/made and loading the trailers) and not getting home till midnight or later on some weekends from competitions (Nationals are at MetLife Stadium, and we don't get home until after 4:00 am). Life and free time is scheduled around band. But it's good busy, and we enjoy all band has done for our family and the commitment we have to it." What Bradley Enjoys Most at ATS, and What He Is Looking Forward To: "I had 8 years of prior experience as a BC before coming to ATS. So I have a good sense for what the job entails overall. While the work is still the work and challenging at times, I have enjoyed how supported that I feel at ATS. I don't feel like I'm doing this on my own and can ask for questions and support whenever needed. I am looking forward to continuing to remain at ATS for the rest of my working career and hope to build a solid footprint in York County while at ATS, which was similar to the footprint I had at my previous position as a BC in the county."

The last two days have been S-P-O-O-K-Y and fun at #ATS #AchievingTrueSelf! Yesterday, we held our ID/A team and young adult #halloween party, and today we had many visitors for #trickortreat with our staff in the Irwin #centerforachievement. In another post, we will show you more photos from across different areas for #trunkortreat2024 season for our families. This is one of our favorite times of the year! Thank you to everyone who participated. 👻☠️🎃

On this #TipTuesday, we'd like to post about what #aba #appliedbehavioranalysis IS, because there's so much out there about what it is NOT! ABA, simply put, is the scientific approach to understanding behavior, and then teaching appropriate and relevant behaviors that are of importance to the life of the person you are teaching. Behavior analysis helps us to understand: ➡️ The language of someone's behavior -- what it tells us ➡️ How behavior is affected by one's environment ➡️ How someone's learning takes place At #ATS #AchievingTrueSelf, we meet people where they are and do not seek to change who someone is at their core. We deliver services with respect and dignity to the individual and their family.

#ATS #AchievingTrueSelf's #FeatureFriday spotlight is on ... Bethany Friel, Registered Behavioral Technician #RBT! Current Work Area & Hometown: Irwin, PA; Westmoreland County Joined ATS In: July 2023 A Little Bit About Bethany: "First and foremost I am adopted, I am the oldest of six with two brothers & three sisters. A unique detail about myself is that I have gone skydiving before! I enjoy going hiking, traveling to new places, and shopping." What Bethany Does In Her Free Time: "I spend my free time working out, watching the Steeler's games every Sunday, cooking, and doing things that take me out of my comfort zone (zip lining, parasailing, jetski, riding roller coasters, holding a snake at the reptile expo, etc.). " What Bethany Enjoys Most at ATS, and What She Is Looking Forward To: "I enjoy building a rapport with not only my client's, whom I treat as if they were my own children, but the families involved as well. My biggest passion is being able to teach children all while making them feel safe, included, and heard. I enjoy transferring skills to parent's, so they have a sense of relief when it comes to their child. In being able to see clients, who I have had the opportunity to be with for a year or more and seeing their data progress or re-assessing them, is rewarding. It's so refreshing to see each individual personality and the motivation each client has. The following statement can also be said about the other clinicians I work alongside. As a staff member, I have felt like Achieving True Self treats their staff as family and is accommodating to not just the client's needs but staff needs as well. I look forward to gaining my License as a Behavior Specialist (LBS) and I am currently collecting hours to sit for my Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) exam to become a BCBA. "
