As the job market evolves, digital credentials are becoming an increasingly valuable asset in a learner's career toolkit. In fact, we found 96% of learners who earned a digital credential consider it valuable for their career, and 78% believe it increases their chances of getting a job offer. (2024 State of Credentialing) However, for credential issuers, effectively conveying these benefits is crucial. Here are some strategies: 1) Highlight immediate value: Emphasize the instant issuance and usability of digital credentials. 2) Showcase versatility: Demonstrate the various platforms and methods for sharing credentials. 3) Provide usage guidance: Offer tips on how to effectively incorporate digital credentials into job applications and professional profiles. 3) Illustrate career impact: Share success stories and statistics on how digital credentials have helped learners advance their careers. 4) Explain enhanced credibility: Detail the security features and verification process that make digital credentials trustworthy. By clearly communicating these benefits, you can help learners understand the full potential of their digital achievements — increasing learner satisfaction and market value and, with it, your program’s value. What strategies have you found worked in helping learners understand AND use the value of digital credentials?

A recent UPCEA snap poll revealed that while 89% of higher education institutions offer online graduate programs, only 68% actively market them to their undergraduate alumni. This is a significant missed opportunity, as marketing to alumni is more cost-effective and more likely to resonate with those already familiar with your institution. The biggest challenge for institutions not marketing graduate programs? Lack of access to alumni contact information (80% of institutions). So, how can you solve this problem and boost graduate program enrollment? A few ideas: 1. Issue digital credentials to both graduate and undergraduate students. This will not only help them effectively represent their achievements, but sharing them online will also increase program awareness and referrals. 2. Spotlight alumni via a Spotlight Directory. Not only do 84% of learners want to be included in an online directory of credential holders (2024 State of Credentialing), but in doing so, you give alumni a competitive edge and help connect them with future opportunities — which, in turn, increases the value and demand for your credentials. 3. Leverage targeted Email Campaigns to market online graduate programs to alumni, using triggered emails to reach credential recipients at key moments. Let’s turn your alumni into lifelong learners.

Why should I issue digital credentials? While the benefits to your learners are widely documented — including 96% of learners who earned a digital credential consider it valuable for their career, and 78% believe it increases their chances of getting a job offer — are digital credentials equally valuable on the institutional side? Although we’re a little biased, the data clearly shows “yes.” The 2024 State of Credentialing report revealed that 94% of training and education leaders who have adopted digital credentials report a positive impact on their business. But what are those benefits? Let’s explore a few. 1. They increase online sharing and brand awareness — Digital credentials make it easier for learners to instantly share their achievements online, leading to greater brand exposure and referrals for your organization. 52% of issuers experienced increased credential sharing after adopting digital credentials, while 48% reported enhanced brand reputation and awareness. 2. They increase engagement and continuous skill development — Whether you’re a training and education provider or an employer, digital credentials are powerful drivers of learner (or employee) engagement and continuous skill development. By providing immediate recognition yet being stackable (via microcredentials), they satisfy the modern need for instant gratification and encourage ongoing learning. And the impact on engagement is significant. According to the same research, 60% of learners are more likely to complete a course when a digital credential is offered. Additionally, IBM found that 87% of IBM badge earners reported higher engagement levels, and 50% returned for additional credentials. 3. They provide valuable data and insights to improve program strategies — Digital credentials can be managed and tracked in a centralized system, giving organizations valuable insights into how and where their credentials are used. This data can help inform program improvements and strategic decisions. Find these and 5 other significant benefits, and examples of how organizations have benefited from adopting digital credentials in our latest blog post. https://ow.ly/jO6H50SYBgP
