◾What: The Corporate Transparency Act ◾More Info: The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA) is one of the largest changes to corporate governance that has ever been enacted. Every company will need to make a determination as to whether it will need to report or will qualify for an exemption. The CTA’s reporting obligations began January 1, 2024. They are now in effect. Reporting companies created before January 1, 2024, have until January 1, 2025, to file their initial beneficial ownership information report. Companies created in 2024 have only 90 days from their date of creation to file their initial beneficial ownership information report. Many business owners remain unaware of the CTA and its implications for their businesses. All business owners should understand the necessity, importance, and timing of complying with this mandatory federal filing requirement.
