I går hadde jeg gleden av å dele scenen med Jarle Roheim Håkonsen Ingebjørg Foss Daae og Michael Jacobs i en panelsamtele i tilknytning til IKT-Norge årskonferanse.   Fokus var kunstig intelligens, og bakgrunnen for debatten er en ny undersøkelse fra IKT-Norge som avdekker et bekymringsfullt bilde: Norge taper kappløpet i Norden om kunstig intelligens. I tillegg til at Norge ligger bak Sverige, viser tilsvarende global studie gjennomført av Accenture at Norden som helhet generelt ligger bak resten av Europa. Det er ikke uvanlig at USA er først ute med ny teknologi, og at Europa og deretter Norden følger bak, men en varsellampe i Accentures undersøkelse er at bedriftsledere i Norden i større grad enn resten av Europa betrakter generativ KI som en trussel mer enn en mulighet.   Så mens generativ KI har et enormt potensial, ser vi at enkelte bedrifter er noe tilbakeholdne med sine KI-investeringer. Dette skyldes delvis mangel på kunnskap, men også dypere forståelse for hvordan KI kan utnyttes for å skape verdi. Interessen er der - det finnes neppe et selskap som ikke er i ferd med å lage en eller annen “KI proof of concept” - men for få tar steget fullt ut.   For å komme videre er det viktig å sette søkelys på kunnskap og kompetansebygging. Ved å utruste ansatte med nødvendig forståelse og ferdigheter, kan ny KI-teknologi tas i bruk raskere og på en sikrere måte. I tillegg kreves det at ledere går foran, tar eierskap til KI-agendaen og sikrer at forretning og IT jobber sammen. Og viktigst av alt: her må alle prøve og feile. Start med et område basert på data som er offentlig tilgjengelig og bygg verdifull KI erfaring.   Takk til IKT-Norge for et flott arrangement som belyser et svært viktig tema.

Today, Save the Children is participating in Accenture's sustainability weeks, where their employees across the Nordic region learn about and engage with environmental and social sustainability issues. This week, the focus is on circular economy issues, the future of food, waste reduction and electronic waste. Save the Children is here to talk about their innovation project Circular Geniuses, which they run together with Accenture and Save the Children Indonesia in the city of Makassar on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi. Almost 90% of all electronic waste in the world is managed by the informal sector. Individuals, including children, handle the waste and then resell it, and in Makassar alone, at least 200 children between the ages of 6 and 17 are working to manage waste with inadequate equipment. This poses a major risk to their health and well-being. In Circular Geniuses, we support children and families to move away from hazardous waste management, with the long-term goal of sending children to school instead. At our joint program event today, we will explain how the raw material of electronic waste affects children and share how the project has changed the lives of local people.
