The Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District is the third-largest public bus system in California, serving 13 cities and adjacent unincorporated areas in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. AC Transit has been serving the East Bay since 1960, taking over from the Key System and its predecessors, which carried passengers via buses, horse-drawn rail, electric streetcars, and ferries over the previous 100 years. Exciting news! AC Transit has been awarded a $15 million grant through the FTA's Bus and Low-No Emission Grant Awards for the second consecutive year! This funding will support the addition of new zero emission buses and infrastructure improvements at our facilities. We'll be adding 25 state-of-the-art hydrogen fuel cell buses and a third hydrogen fueling station, furthering our commitment to reducing our greenhouse gas footprint.
