Eric Reading has witnessed up close the ravages of extreme weather. But he’s also seen how revitalizing ecosystems can reduce future damage. As leaders at #COP16 seek to protect land and water and help endangered species, Abt’s Chief Climate Officer reminds us that a concerted, thoughtful approach to restoring nature is also key in adapting to climate change—on coastlines, up forested river valleys, and even in dense urban neighborhoods: https://lnkd.in/eXW_fWJZ

Senior Strategist in Digital & Innovation | Equitable and sustainable futures through digital solutions
Powerful takeaways from the Abt Global panel at GovAISummit “AI’s New Dawn: Transforming Public Sector Programs”, moderated by Matt Gillingham 1️⃣💁🏾♂️📕🔢“Get the data ready. Get the right subject matter experts.” Nora Connor, PhD stresses the importance of involving those who deeply understand public policy nuances and complexities in the implementation of AI. Domain experts are the ones who should be guiding the GenAI prompts and AI model interpretations. 2️⃣📲 Kathryn Lang offered a pragmatic perspective—“Leave the bias in the models because if you try to take it all out, other bias might pop up somewhere else later.” Stripping out bias might risk unintentionally introducing new biases or ignoring others. Instead, we need to work transparently with the bias inherent in data. 3️⃣👨🏻🦽🤱🏻👵🏽 Ricki Jarmon and Maria Durham described redefining “hard-to-reach” populations using AI, challenging the big buckets of demographic populations who we consider underserved, helping us uncover new subgroups and tailor services to reach them better. 4️⃣👩🏽💻Nora Connor, PhD emphasized the ability for GenAI to democratize access to information, making navigating federal websites and accessing essential information easier for the public. Nana Osafo-Mensah, MBA, ITIL v3, CSM shared how important this is for the workforce as well, to upskill teams with AI tools to work more efficiently. 🌅Overall, there’s a pressing need for governments to keep pace with industry advancements with AI. Falling behind risks undermining the mission to serve citizens. #AI #GovAISummit #AIatAbt #ResponsibleAI
