In addition to navigating the #PortStrike and a joint letter to President Biden again today, AAFA is working around the clock to protect American companies and consumers from counterfeits. Today, we called for immediate action to address the concerning volume and accessibility of dangerous counterfeits across major online platforms, including social media and social commerce platforms, in AAFA’s submission for the 2024 Review of Notorious Markets for Counterfeiting and Piracy (Notorious Markets List). The comments to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative draw attention to the lack of proactive controls, little to no measures to address repeat infringers, and the growing problems across the digital devalue chain of counterfeits–including fraudulent websites and fraudulent advertisements. Here's why we named AliExpress, DHGate, Meta Platforms, Shopee: bit.ly/3ZJVriX Talk to AAFA's Audrey Clark and Nate Herman about the transportation/logistics/#ShippingCrisis and Jennifer S. about why we need #SHOPSAFE

With just hours to go until a potential #PortStrike, AAFA is sounding the alarm for President Biden to bring all parties to the table. Reaching a fair, long-term, and sustainable deal should be job number one for all parties. Members: join AAFA's Nate Herman & Audrey Clark at 1PM ET on Wednesday for the latest. https://lnkd.in/ePFEw7_7

Wednesday, AAFA and fellow #FightFakes advocates gathered on Capitol Hill for SHOP SAFELY: Genuine Products for Fit, Function and Safety to call attention to the serious health and safety issues that counterfeit products present. These goods are hiding in plain sight via third-party platforms that need more oversight. Thank you to Rep. Issa, Rep. Cline, the National Intellectual Property Rights Coordination Center and National Crime Prevention Council, & Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) for your remarks. #FightFakes #IP #SHOPSAFELY #SHOPSAFE #EcommerceSafety #GoForReal #FakeGoodsRealDangers

With a potential #PortStrike just ONE week away, we need President Biden to step in. The shipping industry estimates that every one day of disruption creates five days of backlog. Just when inflation has started to come under control, a strike at the East and Gulf Coast ports would mean American families will face a surge in prices and product shortages not seen since the pandemic, and just in time for holiday. See our letter sent today: https://lnkd.in/e63hRdzN

AAFA members are took part in a Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) Coalition lobby day today on Capitol Hill. It is also 'National School Backpack Awareness Day' where students are reminded of #BackpackSafety. The 50-year-old bipartisan program was allowed to expire at the end of 2020. Before expiration, GSP enabled American businesses to use the duty savings to compete internationally, lower costs for American families, employ more American workers, and invest in new products. GSP was also an effective enforcement tool to open foreign markets, protect #IntellectualProperty and improve workers’ rights. Curious? AAFA's trade policy experts including Beth Hughes and Audrey Clark would love to talk with you more about it! #RenewGSP
