Launching the next phase of our 1X World Model Challenge: Sampling. This stage focuses on predicting future video frames with high accuracy, using methods like GANs and Diffusion Models to generate coherent scene continuations. To be competitive, submissions should achieve a PSNR of around 26.5 or above. We will open our evaluation server for submissions and release our metric in March 2025. The top entry will be announced in June 2025 and will receive a $10,000 prize. For submissions and questions, reach out via [email protected]. https://lnkd.in/dAPyrEdS

DOCUMENTARY LINK: https://lnkd.in/eBzqNEi8 Last month I was lucky enough to be part of the small team that put 1X’s NEO in Jason Carman’s apartment in San Francisco. I can’t convey in words how much of a both surreal and profound experience this was to witness firsthand… When building robots we typically test them in a lab or office/warehouse which is a very spacious, clinical, sterile environment. In contrast, Jason’s apartment was an old Victorian-style home that felt warm, intimate, and most importantly, lived-in. It was a space entirely relatable to our own homes, complete with all the idiosyncrasies and personal objects of every day life. Seeing NEO operating here just completely blew my mind; illustrating what humanoid robots as a consumer product would actually look like, and how close this is to being a reality. Regarding my own technical perspective, it was incredibly validating to see NEO completing tasks that would have been impossible for our previous generation robot EVE, just by virtue of having hands instead of pinch grippers. I have long had the intuition that this is the case, but it is only when you are confronted with the complexity of a domestic environment that you can move from the abstract, to concrete examples of why dexterity matters. As Jason says in the video, we were all struck by the profundity of the moment, witnessing sci-fi brought to life for the first time. This was as far as we all know, a world first, and a glimpse into our collective future. I am honoured to have been one of the few people to witness this moment, firsthand. Shoutout to Jason for letting us turn his apartment into a combination of a film set and a mechanic’s workshop! 🫡 And to my incredibly hard working team mates Michael Purcell, Dar Sleeper, Turing Zelsnack, Ralf Mayet and Ømer-Faruk Cetin I will remember that weekend forever.

"No, no - you don't have to explain it. I get it." Was Sam's comment when OpenAI decided to invest in 1X. 1X founder and CEO Bernt Øivind Børnich joined Herbert Ong on the Brighter With Herbert podcast to answer how 1X secured funding with OpenAI, announced in early 2023. Bernt also reflects on the lessons from the first commercial rollouts offering EVE to the enterprise market and how these lessons are shaping the bring-up of our next humanoid NEO and its advanced intelligence. "Adapting industrial robots with AI isn't enough for scalable, cost-efficient humanoids for domestic use. We need a different approach: robots that are soft, low energy, and scalable in manufacturing. 1X produces everything in-house, from components to the AI stack. By 2025, we aim to see significant volumes of NEO, using learnings from our current platform EVE to master scaling, AI integration, and customer deployment." 1X's ultimate goal is for our biped robot NEO to help out in people's homes. While developing NEO, we're already training for autonomous domestic tasks using EVE as a data collector and research platform. “We’ve previously shown that our robots were able to pick up and manipulate simple objects, but to have useful home robots, you have to chain tasks together smoothly.” said Eric Jang, vice president of AI at 1X. “We can give the robot a goal — ‘Please go to this part of the room’ — and the same neural network can navigate to all parts of the room,” he said. “Tidying up a room involves four primitives: going anywhere in the room, adjusting for position, picking something up, and putting it down.”
