I am a strong advocate of this because, from my perspective, storytelling has a unique capability to connect with others in a relatable manner. Whether it's a client or a team member, using storytelling helps them feel connected to you in some way.

How can we expect performance from a team member without role clarity? They should have a clear understanding of their role, working hours, work processes, and whom they should report to. These answers need to be very clear to them.

In my experience working with C-suite, public-facing professionals, and everyday interactions, creating a "connection" is a proven means of fostering understanding, respect, and empathy. All of this can be done through storytelling: storytelling is the art of sharing WHO you are and WHAT is important through a story that reaches the listener. Sharing stories is a way to share your personal brand, offer a means to open up to others, create that "connection", and cultivate belonging. It's a way to say, "I see you and I hear you" - and isn't that what we all want when coming into a new environment or job?!

Leading with vulnerability and insights on a professional but appearing personal level will help this along. Encouraging the stories to be shared and added to with personal insights will be great.
