If a revision doesn't significantly improve the story or could be resolved with clever editing or camera work later, consider putting it lower on your list. If it were my film, I hold the completed story and accompanying script in my mind. I know where everything goes and has to happen to move the story forward. A good editor must work hand in hand with the writer, to see what adds to the story or what is off, unanticipated by the audience or not well received. Often a good editor will point issues out to the film maker, if there is an off the wall scene that does not really contribute or is ill conceived with the progression of the plot, or completely unnecessary. I have been consulted on these types of issues, by many film makers and they have used my suggestions, which they have received without cost. Sometimes though, it takes time and effort to sort problems out. So, no more at this point.

Working around limits is how many of us filmmakers got our start. It's a badge of honor that shows itself in an ability to pivot and find a creative solution quickly. The creative team (writer, director, editor, etc) should be able to give insight into the pillars of the story and whether or not a specific scene or shot holds the weight of the story. There is always a way to write or cut around the non essential, but the flipside is that if the story stands strong, you could shoot it on any camera, at someone's mom's house, and the world would still watch.
