Human’s ability of creative thinking differentiate them from other living creatures. However, other creatures mostly relies on their experiences. I believe we sometimes keep our experience aside in quest of creating something unique. It is not impossible to create unique structure, however what we lack is through understanding of the practical difficulties which mostly result into undesired end product or a desired product at undesired price.

With 14 years in oil, gas, and naval industries, I see project management as a puzzle beyond planning. A clear vision is crucial, considering impacts on people and the environment. Listening to clients and aligning expectations ensures everyone is on the same page. Data plays a vital role in informed decisions, shaping plans that meet current and future needs. Creativity and feasibility must align, with tools like BIM and AI integrating vision with reality, saving time and costs. Collaboration is key. Bringing clients, designers, and teams together fosters shared responsibility, allowing us to build structures and create a lasting impact on the industry.

Incorporating data and analytics into the initial vision for a construction project can significantly enhance decision-making and outcomes. Creativity is defined as a 4-criterion construct, which includes attributes of novelty, utility, aesthetics, and authenticity. Novelty attribute stipulates that a creative work brings something new into being, which presents a new conceptual framework and/or modifies or violates an existing one.

I strongly believe and got experience in team collaboration. In my first work experience, I was asking all of my foremen and engineers about their ideas for certain cases. In our off-day,I had invited them to site for a meeting and told my idea for the solution and let them criticise about that. When the meeting finished, we all agree about the final solution and start preparation for implementing it. After 3 days, we got success. The keypoint is to say "we" instead of "I". And create a free atmosphere for everbody to tell their technical ideas.

Team collaboration is about providing trust to team members. All team members will give their best abilities in solving problems if given trust and not just communication from top to bottom. exercising control is very different from simply giving instructions. Maximum results will be obtained if all teams work with the same goal.

One thing I found thats team collaboration is about distribution of load and sharing ideas always providing clarity to comeover from situations. Its about very easy ways to involved team in a matters or subject to accomplished successfully rather than work alone. As we said 4 eyes is always better than 2 eye.

The human mind is like a parachute, neither of them will work unless they are OPEN. I had an old boss one time and I will never forget him and what a great teacher he was. He taught me a long time ago that not everyone is looking through my eyes. It was a profound statement. I have learned through the years that you are as good as the team you surround yourself with. I am very blessed to be surrounded by the people that I am. We have this thing called ground conferences and we take a couple minutes when starting something new, we run into a problem etc. and the whole crew is involved and the floor is open to EVERYONE no matter your rank or position. The ideas that have come forth from these have solved many issues. I never forget that !!!!!

All my projects involve collaboration with all team members. When difficulties arise, solutions can be found more easily through collective effort. This approach helps us complete tasks efficiently and provides valuable learning experiences from overcoming challenges.

Most definitely keep learning. This industry is evolving. Try and stay up to date on new technologies in all areas in construction. If you strive to be a gc supervisor or construction manager. Learn all you can about each trade so you can visualize the project as it's being built. Learn about sustainable things and how to apply them. Remember to really grow you have to stand out from the crowd. And you will definitely be living outside your comfort zone while learning new things. And as you gain the knowledge and experience you will stand out

Learn as much as you can for as long as you can. There will always be something to help you better your career, personal goals or even change careers and better your lifestyle. You’re never too young or old to start, because once you begin and find the passion, it’s hard to stop

Equipping your self with a trade or a skill will give you the best platform to build your career on. This can be done with a trade or skills picked up by supplemental training at university. Further to that continually engaging with opportunities to learn and develop new skills is key.

Going to culinary school to be a chef after ten years in engineering, allowed me to see designs and features in hospitality engineering that i would have never known before.

One thing I found when transitioning from Operations to a Corporate Education role was to make the role my own. Creativity is severely stunted when you try to fit the mold of predecessors or similar roles. It is your career, make it your own! Always be curious and hungry for new methods, but combine them with the best parts of your industries traditional processes. It will allow you to drive your career in whatever direction brings you excitement, challenges, and fulfillment.
