Here's how you can create a successful business plan.

To create a successful business plan, start with a clear and compelling executive summary that outlines your business vision and goals. Conduct thorough market research to understand your target audience and competition. Define your business model, including products or services, pricing, and sales strategies. Develop detailed financial projections, including revenue, expenses, and profitability. Outline your marketing and operational plans, and identify key milestones and metrics for success. Finally, review and revise your plan regularly to adapt to changing market conditions and business needs.

Executive Summary: Start with a concise summary of your business idea, highlighting the key elements of your plan, such as your mission, vision, products or services, target market, and goals. Company Description: Provide an overview of your company, including its history, legal structure, location, and any unique advantages or competitive strengths you have. Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to understand your industry, target market, and competitors. Include information on market size, trends, customer needs, and potential growth opportunities. Organization and Management: Describe your organizational structure, key team members.

One of the most important things to remember is that you start your Executive Summary is on outline of your business plan and should follow a logical structure that mirrors the plan. However it should also stand alone as an informative document allowing readers to grasp the essentials without reading the full report. It should be viewed as a living document that evolves alongside the main report or plan. As you progress through different sections (like market research, product development, or financial projections), you may uncover new insights that necessitate changes to earlier parts of your plan. Then you must regularly update the executive summary to reflect these changes, with a final review as the last step.

Para facilitar o entendimento de um planejamento, usarei como exemplo, o objetivo de construir uma casa. Então, vamos começar? Primeiro elaborar um quadro com 7 colunas e quantas linhas forem necessárias para detalhar o plano de ações. No cabeçalho de cada coluna inserir as seguintes perguntas: 1) O que fazer? 2)Fazer Por quê? 3)Quem fará? 4)Onde? 5) Como? 6) Quando? 7)Recursos?

Na primeira coluna (o que fazer?) anotar as seguintes ações, uma em cada linha: contratar arquiteto/engenheiro; elaborar projeto; escolher terreno/localização; comprar terreno; contratar construtora; fazer a fundação; levantar alvenaria; construir telhado; instalação elétrica e hidráulica; pintura e acabamento. Cada ação colocada na primeira coluna “o que fazer”, deve suscitar respostas às questões seguintes. Então, se você colocou “contratar construtora”, a próxima pergunta necessitará da sua resposta sobre o “por que?” contratar uma construtora e assim por diante. Depois de preencher e analisar todas essas lacunas, o plano de ação servirá como insumo para estruturar seu planejamento, monitoramento e cumprimento das etapas planejadas.

Entretanto, vale ressaltar que demanda tempo e investimento na execução dos processos e recursos necessários. Avançando mais um pouco, e considerando que A é onde estamos, e B onde pretendemos chegar, um bom planejamento consiste na escolha do melhor caminho de A até B. Vivemos em um ambiente de constantes mudanças e, para se alcançar o objetivo desejado, é preciso planejar. Não é prever o futuro, mas analisar alternativas, reduzir incertezas, minimizar riscos, direcionar investimentos, identificar a capacitação necessária para os objetivos, identificar concorrentes, definir onde pretende atuar, envolver outras pessoas.

Em se tratando de um investimento pessoal ou empresarial, no momento, iremos apenas conceituar, mas na elaboração do Planejamento Estratégico, além do plano de ação citado acima, deve-se considerar: a) A Missão – é a razão de ser. Um compromisso com o presente e com o futuro. Serve como referencial para os objetivos. b) A Visão - expressa um “sonho” e intenções desafiantes em torno das quais se define a direção a ser seguida rumo ao futuro desejado, em determinado período. c) Os Cenários - são informações coletadas e analisadas, que não necessariamente acontecerão, mas que estejam relacionadas sistemicamente ao Plano.

d) O Ambiente interno (Forças e Fraquezas) e externo (Ameaças e Oportunidades) - com essa análise, encontramos as potencialidades para aproveitar as oportunidades; e as vulnerabilidades que dificultam o aproveitamento dessas oportunidades. e) Os objetivos - são definidos como uma situação futura que se pretende alcançar. Devem ser coerentes com a Missão e construído com base na análise do cenário. f) As Metas - são alvos quantificados e com prazo de execução definido. Deve ser específica para o que precisa ser alcançado, coerente com os objetivos, atingível, mas realista, concreta e clara, mensurável e desafiante.

Problem with Financial Forecasting can lead to failed seed funding attempt: One of the restaurants failed to raise funds of $2m for its innovative fast food business model. They asked me to figure out the problem. I reviewed their business plan and forecasted financial statements. I was shocked to see 40% sales growth on monthly basis. Sales was estimated with 40% growth on per month. This was the key point which gave me idea about why investors rejected the request for seed funding. Actually, they thought that forecasted growth is unrealistic, therefore, making investment in restaurant can be problematic for them. This was the key problem with estimated sales growth and financial estimation.

Issue with Sales Strategy and Salesforce Deployment: End of Business During 2022, one of my client faced problem of bankruptcy and opted for closing the business. It was a software house which highly relied on freelancing sites for getting project hunting. But their issues were related to sales strategy and salesforce deployment. Their Sales Manager was also the Finance Manager, so he was heavily with involved with financial matters. In effect he failed to give proper time to project hunting and brining new clients to company. Besides this, company did not hire any sales officer or bidding consultant. Due to that, software house failed to bring desired sales. In effect, they experienced losses and planned to close the company.

More importantly, observing where rivals have stumbled allows a company to avoid similar pitfalls, and seeing where they have complaints or unmet needs can assist in identifying opportunities for product development and differentiation.
