CX is about making customers feel delighted throughout their experiences with the brand - whether physically in a store, on the app, calling a helpline … It has to bring to life the brand value proposition in superior ways to alternatives customers may have and help drive customer choice and preference for the brand. Apple is a prime example of brands that built superiority through experience across their product offerings, in their Apple stores, in their customer engagement… CX goes well beyond fixing pain points and delivering higher NPS scores. Grounding CX efforts in helping drive strategic differentiation for the brands and build superiority vs key competitors has been a prime focus of mine Majid Al Futtaim.

The most important thing you can do is understand the company, the product, the need. Then make sure the company culture and value aligns with what you as a candidate are looking for. Next step is the fun part, strategize how you can come in and exceed goals and expectations. Leveraging company/product values, solve their problems! You will crush it. Best of luck all!

The key things you need to do before an interview is to: 1) Research & familiarize yourself with the company you are interviewing, in terms of the Corporate Mission/Objective ; Product offerings ; Marketing & Promotional Activities ; Finanacial Report ; Press Releases, etc. All this information can be obtained from the company's website, and social media. 2) Know who is going to interview you. * HR manager focuses on culture & people * Hiring manager focuses on process & products * C-suite focuses on profit, cost cutting, streamline processes 3) Know the JD well. Understand what the skills they are hiring for & align to your experience and present how you can contribute positively & constructively.

There are several things to do: 1. Research and fully understand the company and the role that you have applied for. 2. Practice speaking to how your experience and skills translate to that role. 3. Develop value added ideas that model the role and be prepared to highlight how you are able to do so.

One thing I’ve found helpful in progressing through my CX career is consistently highlighting the competitive advantage of Customer Experience. For example, in interviews or other discussions I always explain how CX is a mindset, strategy, and discipline. I then explain what these 3 areas mean, and connect it to how CX is a competitive advantage for any organization. By following this approach, you are able to speak to the business and customer needs and goals that demonstrate you truly understand why CX is important and a differentiator.

Be yourself! If you truthfully have the spirit of service, you will show that willingnes to help, being professional basically goes with manners and honesty, this adds value on your character and creates a good feeling on the employer knowing you can be trusted.

Research the business (website, socials, reviews etc), check out some of their customers, get your hands on the product or a demo video if you can. From that, you'll get a few ideas of what could be improved. During the interview, ask what problem they're trying to solve in hiring for the role, and answer confidently with the knowledge you have. Sometimes this will be reflective of your own experience in other businesses/situations, but other times, you can wow them with an idea you had while stalking... I mean.. researching them online.

Inform yourself on the field, every line of work has a particular personality for the expected clientele. That will give you the oportunity to know what can you offer to an open opportunity. Do not be afraid to learn something new and out of your comfort zone. Remember, "knowledge is the key to open doors".

Listen to each question before you answer it. Identify what the questioner is looking for before you open your mouth. Too often candidates rush into answers and ramble. Your answer should be relevant and structured. Know your first sentence before you say it. Don't use vague terms or absolute terms. Think SMART. Don't relax into the answer, you should be in charge not the other way round. Be conscious of pace and length of sentences. At the end of each answer you should summarise the key points. A simple rule: a statement should be followed by illustration, demonstration, example. STAR only applies to behaviour/situation based questions

In my experience, there’s been times where I’ve tried to memorise my practised answers and crumbled when the words didn’t flow in the right order. The next time I had an interview, I decided to just be me and explain my answers in my own voice and terms. I looked for clarity and achieved clarity through conscious breath-work. Taking 5 deep breaths worked a treat and landed me the job in an industry I’ve always wanted!

Take notes while you're being interviewed. The questions they're asking should tell you about the role and culture. You can also use the questions to consider what you still want to know in the next interview.

1. Know the company that you’re interviewing for. Do some proper research through Google & Co. Know the key facts about the company. 2. Know the details of your CV and the job. Be ready to briefly present your CV without reading from it. . 3. Have concrete examples of your skills ready: What was your Task; What have you done and Which KPIs did you achieve? 4. Listen & understand. Ask, if you’re not sure. Reply brief & honest. 6. Don’t criticize a previous employer. 7. Ask smart questions.

In the interview process, I've identified three key tasks. Firstly, it's essential to narrate your experiences in a "hiring manager-centric" manner, putting yourself in their shoes to present a clear and consistent story that makes their decision-making easier. Secondly, every hiring manager seeks a candidate who can either generate revenue, reduce costs, or streamline processes. If you fail to articulate at least one of these value propositions, you haven't effectively communicated your worth. Thirdly, don't forget to interview your hiring manager. It's a two-way street; during the interview, assess whether you want to collaborate with this individual, ensuring a mutual fit for a successful partnership.

If you have connected with the interviewer on LinkedIn before an interview then follow up with a thank you message after the interview. If you are not connected on LinkedIn than connect and send a thank you message. Every interview is a learning experience. Make sure you write the questions down and your answers. Self assessment is important. What did I miss? What could I have added? This will feed into future interviews. Keep applying for roles until you have signed a contract and you are sitting at a desk.

It is important to send a Thank You email to the interviewer and HR, appreciating the time and effort spent with you. It helps to enhance the impression they have about you. May be good to extend LinkedIn & FB invite to them personally and follow the corporate social media by liking and commend.

Go through the company website and if known talk to people who are already working in the company. If CX is already a topic in the company, try to get some insights about how it is working or if it is not a topic yet then understand why CX would be needed to take the org forward. Prepare practical examples from your previous role(s) on where you have created a tangible impact on customer experience. Even if you have not worked directly worked in CX, all employees in a way work for customer experience. Prepare for connecting the dots: How you think you can leverage your experience to what the company would need you to do to enhance CX, and how you can make it happen. Emphasize on collaborative leadership.

A thought might be to consider the future of CX in your role. Be prepared to discuss how you will continue to learn about and adapt to new CX trends and technologies relevant to the position you are interviewing for.
