How can you show your insurance clients that you value them?

I am big on customer service! In the dynamic world of insurance, forging genuine connections with clients is paramount. Beyond providing coverage, the impact of a handwritten birthday card or a thoughtful courtesy call extends far beyond the initial transaction. Personalizing our service is a commitment to making clients feel genuinely valued. This dedication to exceptional customer service isn't merely a nicety; it strategically builds trust, nurtures loyalty, and contributes significantly to a thriving business outcome through enduring client relationships. Our clients deserve more than just quality coverage – they deserve an experience that resonates with care and appreciation.

I believe that providing educational information/training on policy coverages would be more valuable to customers than sending birthday cards or seasonal greetings.

Some helpful ways I've found to show my clients that they are valued: 1. Send personalized messages on birthdays or policy anniversaries. 2. Provide informative content about insurance-related topics to help them make informed decisions. 3. Keep them informed about special discounts for their loyalty. 4. Accept feedback to better understand their needs. 5. Host webinars featuring industry experts or discussions on helpful topics. 6. Remember to say thank you. 7. Be available, or have someone attend to their need to avoid any delays in service. 8. Congratulate them on responsible risk management. 9. Customized Solutions uniquely theirs. 10. Review regularly to keep their coverage current and up-to-date.

You can strengthen your client relationships by having better conversations with them. When you communicate with your clients, share how their insurance coverage fits in with the rest of their financial life. Listen to what your clients goals are and then make sure that their coverage is meeting their goals and is relevant for them. Be sure to educate your clients on how their insurance works. Clients oftentimes don't really understand how an insurance policy works. This leads to misunderstandings which can create further issues and eventually a lost client. Come from a place of service. Insurance companies often appoint dedicated Account Managers for valued customers, ensuring a single point of contact for queries. This approach enables the Account Manager to have a comprehensive understanding of the customer's history and be readily available when needed.

Policy consultations and audits provide an excellent opportunity to forge a deeper connection with customers. This relationship-building aspect is paramount to fostering customer satisfaction and loyalty, especially in agent-centric companies. For direct companies, prioritizing a seamless and effortless customer experience is essential. While free consultations may seem attractive, in my experience customers don't always perceive them as a valuable benefit. In fact, only a small percentage of customers actively utilize these.

The difference i mentioned before between agent-centric approach and self service approach is still valid here, with an exception: When claims arise, even if you are a smart and digital insurer, your clients will need reassurance and guidance that only a human can provide. Who is willing to manage a claim by himself/herself is the exception

Certain insurers extend a meaningful value-added service by offering year-end dividends as a gesture of appreciation, showcasing their commitment to customers.

ACKNOWLEDGING their problem statements will demonstrate how focused you are towards devising solutions for them. Also, never disregard any ideas from the client they may have to resolve the issue. Demonstrate your consulting & problem solving expertise by taking their idea further or recommend a better solution respectfully with reasonings.

Always guide your clients and their families through the claims process. This is the time when your value as an adviser is really on show. It is the opportunity to demonstrate how the quality product(s) you arranged for them work efficiently for them. You will need your expertise - especially ensuring that they do not miss out on any built in additional features - as well as the main benefit You will also need compassion and empathy. Death or serious illness or injury are stressful times for anyone going through them. The way you manage the claim is your best advertisement for you as a professional adviser. Happy claimants provide good referrals and testimonials that will lead you to more clients.

Active Listening is a key. Through active listening we are proving the customer comes first. Put customer in the front face instead on our own agenda. That way customer gets value they are expecting and we can make sure they will get desired benefit out of it.

Provide clarity and insights to your insurance customer. If you are a risk management professional, evaluate your customer risk exposure periodically even without asking. If you are an underwriter, make them aware of what coverage your customer should avail and provide them best rates as per their risk profile.
