Before I start working with people from other countries on (AI) projects, I check the cultural differences. Professor Geert Hofstede did a lot of research on, he summarized all cultural differences in 6 dimensions. When you are aware of these differences from the start, the (AI) projects will work out fine.

Context is very much still a human endeavor and something that AI can only imitate in a shallow manner via text prediction. Research into the available data while keeping bias and assumption in mind will allow you to avoid going down the wrong path. Most unintentional discrimination or lack of diversity is usually an inability to ask the right questions or to listen actively. Intentional communication will avoid a lot of future drama.
