After understanding the Risk probability and impact, the team must either accept the Risk or elaborate the mitigation plan. All architectures should complain with the SCP (Security Continuity Plan) and the BCP (Business Continuity Plan) that the company has. It means that the architecture has to be evaluate in order to find all risks and define a mitigation for them. The company has to include everything needed in the incident simulation that they do as part of their SCP & BCP.

And note, I'm not saying Open Source is a bad thing, code quality is generally high BUT, if a well known Open Source package has a vulnerability it'll be more easily found and probably widely exploited. You do have to check other people's work as well as your own, there is no free lunch.
