Ben Affleck’s Net Worth Is Hefty Thanks to Decades in the Spotlight: How the Actor Made His Millions
Raking it in! Ben Affleck has amassed a hefty net worth thanks to his decades of working as a writer, actor, director and, yes, commercial star.
Keep reading to find out how Ben makes his money.
What Is Ben Affleck’s Net Worth?
The Gone Girl actor’s net worth is estimated to be $150 million, according to multiple reports.
How Does Ben Affleck Make His Money?
Funny enough, among his largest paydays from an acting gig was $15 million from the movie Paycheck. However, Deadline previously reported Ben likely made “an eight-figure quote” for his role as Batman in the DC Universe, specifically in the Justice League movie.
But the Way Back star wasn’t always earning such an impressive paycheck for his talents. He began acting as a kid and teenager while living in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with his family. Thanks to his large stature, he was often cast as a jock. In the early 1990s, he scored small roles in films Daddy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and School Ties.
As most fans know, Ben’s breakout career moment was 1997’s Good Will Hunting, which he wrote and starred in with childhood friend Matt Damon. This not only won the writing duo an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, but the flick also cemented both of their careers and launched them into the A-list status they still hold today.
Following the success of Good Will Hunting, the Deep Water actor went on to star in Armageddon, Shakespeare in Love, Pearl Harbor, Changing Lanes and Daredevil.
Besides acting, the Hollywood hunk’s first directing gig was 2007’s Gone Baby Gone followed by The Town, which he wrote, produced and directed, in 2010. Argo was also a huge directorial success for Ben in 2012.
Ben and Matt set up their own production company in 1998 called Pearl Street Films. They later formed another production company called LivePlanet.
That being said, the Gigli star has experienced many ups and downs in his personal life. He attended residential therapy for alcoholism in 2001 and returned again in 2017 and 2018, amid his divorce from ex-wife Jennifer Garner, with whom he shares kids Violet, Seraphina and Samuel. In 2019, Ben acknowledged he relapsed after photos circulated of him falling down drunk while leaving a Halloween party.
“It was just a slip … I’m not going to let it derail me,” he later told a member of the media shortly after the incident while outside the 13 Going on 30 actress’ home, according to TMZ.
Prior to his marriage to Jennifer, whom he met while filming 2003’s Daredevil, Ben was engaged to Jennifer Lopez from 2002 to 2004. Though they called it quits, Ben and J. Lo reunited 17 years later and got engaged in April 2022 after nearly one year of dating.
On top of his many memorable film performances, Ben starred alongside Jennifer in back-to-back Dunkin’ Super Bowl commercials in 2023 and 2024, for which he raked in millions of dollars. He was paid an estimated $10 million for his first spot, according to multiple reports, and may have earned even more the second time around.
And Ben didn’t just star in the ads: he had a big hand in their conception and creative execution, too. Both Dunkin’ big game ads were made by Artists Equity, the production company owned by Ben and Matt Damon.
In addition to paying the Air star for his role in the commercials, Dunkin’ also reportedly made a significant donation to the Eastern Congo Initiative, Ben’s humanitarian aid nonprofit.
How Has Ben Affleck’s Relationship With Jennifer Lopez Affected His Net Worth?
In February 2024, Jennifer released a three-part multimedia project based on her off-again-on-again relationship with Ben. The project includes her ninth studio album, This Is Me…Now, as well as an accompanying film and documentary.
The documentary, called The Greatest Love Story Never Told, is named after a series of private letters that Ben wrote to Jen over the years.
Although it is unclear what percentage of earnings Ben will receive from Jennifer’s entirely self-financed project, the “Let’s Get Loud” singer told Variety during a February 13, 2024, interview it cost her a whopping $20 million total to make.
