An All-State quarterback is joining a group of area athletes competing with Iowa’s best this Saturday. Pella’s Luke Hardman has been added to the 2024 Shrine Bowl roster, and is spending the week in Cedar Falls preparing for the annual showcase after accepting the invitation last week. Local players and cheerleaders are also participating in the 52nd annual Shrine Bowl at the UNI Dome, including Pella Christian’s Trevor Veenstra and Hattie Fancher, Norwalk’s Keilor Rodman, PCM’s Mark Bussan, and Pleasantville’s Caleb Cook and Rhya Cowden. All five KNIA/KRLS-area football players will be members of the South team for the game The group was recognized for their selections by the Za-Ga-Zig Shriners in Altoona on Wednesday evening. In addition to the All-Star showcase, the game also serves as a fundraiser to benefit Shriners’ Children Hospital and its mission to provide pediatric care anywhere, regardless of the families’ ability to pay.
