The Wonder on Buxton Project, an effort to transform a portion of N Buxton St. into a place that celebrates the community and connects the downtown Indianola square to Simpson College, is ready to begin installation. The projects that will be installed include six concrete sculptures on public property in the corridor, thirty sidewalk inlays along Buxton Street, six kinetic wind sculptures on Buxton Street lamps, and there will be QR codes on the concrete sculptures, linking to stories of local history.

Heidi Levine with Indianola Hometown Pride tells KNIA News the six concrete structures will try to capture the essence of the Indianola community.

“The role of hot air ballooning in our community, Simpson College, music and the opera, the county fair, Warren County itself as the county seat, and a place that is kind of guaranteed to be Instagram ready for people to be taking photos framing themselves either looking towards the campus or towards the square.”
