The City of Indianola is delaying the public hearing regarding a proposed ordinance on ownership of chickens within city limits from July 29th to August 19th.

City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News in order to take care of a lot of city business in the coming weeks and give every project the work behind the scenes it deserves, the decision was made to postpone the hearing.

“It doesn’t have anything to do with the issue, we take this issue seriously and the council wants to consider it thoroughly. It is a complete issue on the city staff’s part that we need to postpone the public hearing to the 19th.”

The ordinance was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission in a 4-3 vote, and will now move to the Indianola City Council for first consideration. A survey regarding the ordinance is still open until July 21st.
