Two teen brothers arrested in the murder of a 13-year-old Kent boy at Turnkey Park had their first appearance in a King County courtroom Friday.
A third suspect, 18-year-old Faysal Abdullahi, has already been charged with First Degree Murder in the fatal shooting.
Probable cause documents from the King County Prosecutors Office paint the picture of what all went down on July 16th.
Detectives say the suspects set up a meeting to buy a camera from one of Stavkovy’s friends, but one of the suspects admitted to investigators they didn’t have the money to buy the camera and that they were going to steal it.
“This is something that people do all the time: whether they buy things off an offer up or craigslist or any kind of platform like that,” Casey McNerthney with KCPAO said.
Prosecutors say this recent tragedy is adding to an already alarming trend in the county.
“I think we have had 9 homicides so far this year where young people have been killed. And that is really surprising because that is more than some full years in years prior,” McNerthney said.
Prosecutors say murder and robbery charges could come as early as next week for the two suspects. Both remain in custody.
