Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 5.67% or 30.50 points to trade at 568.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Entain PLC (LON:ENT) added 2.86% or 20.40 points to end at 734.60 and Smurfit WestRock PLC (LON:SWR) was up 2.84% or 96.00 points to 3,472.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY), which fell 2.03% or 6.00 points to trade at 289.80 at the close. Diageo PLC (LON:DGE) declined 1.44% or 36.00 points to end at 2,470.00 and Tesco PLC (LON:TSCO) was down 1.22% or 4.50 points to 364.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1216 to 522 and 731 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.21% or 31.20 to $2,611.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.52% or 0.36 to hit $69.33 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.36 to trade at $72.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.00% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 101.04.
