Nick Harris has officially joined Gallagher as its chief executive of UK and Ireland retail broking.
Harris’ appointment was first announced in March 2024, with Gallagher saying that he would begin his new role in July.
In a LinkedIn post, the broker announced that Harris would start today (1 July 2024).
He will be responsible for overseeing the work of 4,000 colleagues who look after the risk management and insurance needs of over 1m commercial organisations and individuals.

”Nick joins as chief executive of our UK and Ireland retail division, heading up our team of 4,000 colleagues who look after the insurance and risk management needs of over 1m customers.
”The team operates from our extensive office network across the UK and Ireland, which is supported by specialist broking capabilities in specific industries and insurance solutions ensuring clients have access to industry-leading technical knowledge.”
Experience
Harris joins the firm from Marsh and reports directly to Michael Rea, chief executive of Gallagher’s UK business.

At Marsh, Harris most recently served as the chief executive of the broker’s Pacific division, a position he took up when the business purchased Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) in 2019.
The role saw him lead operations and trading in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
Prior to this, Harris spent a number of years in a variety of c-suite roles for JLT in the Pacific region.
