Charlotte and Louis Had the Most Relatable Sibling Fight at Trooping the Colour

As Princess Kate made her highly-anticipated return to public-facing duties with an appearance at this year’s Trooping the Colour, her daughter Charlotte was her right hand man to ensure everything went smoothly – and to make sure her brothers were on their best behavior. When the royals made their annual family appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony, Prince Louis showed off his larger-than-life personality at the festivities, alternating between making faces, yawning, and dancing. Princess Charlotte was less than impressed by her younger brother’s antics, and things came to a head when she attempted to scold him for his behavior.

During an all too relatable sibling exchange, Princess Charlotte could be seen telling her six-year-old brother to “stop” when he began swaying and dancing to the band’s music. While his moves earned a laugh from his mom, the Prince and Princess of Wales’s only daughter wasn’t having it and they began bickering. 

Lip reader Nicola Hickling told the Mirror that Princess Charlotte appeared to scold her brother, telling him, "You have to stop doing that. Watch the parade." However, Prince Louis wasn’t about to be bossed around by his big sister, and responded, “I won’t.”

A frustrated Charlotte doubled down, seemingly telling him to “do as you're told,” but Prince Louis held firm. “Nope,” he responded.

Princess Charlotte making sure her brothers were behaving was a sign she was trying to support her mom, according to a body language expert, who called the “protective” young royal “Kate’s wing-woman.”

Judi James told The Sun, “There were strong hints that Charlotte is the child primarily protecting and supporting Kate at this event. Sitting opposite her mother, she performed the kind of body language rituals that Kate would normally have done, smiling over her shoulder at the crowds and waving with enthusiasm. Like Kate, her smile was almost constant.”

James added, “The non-verbal signals suggest Charlotte has stepped up to help take over some of her mum’s public role.” While Princess Charlotte took charge over her siblings at the event, which was their first joint appearance this year, Princess Kate could also be seen mothering her mini-me during Trooping the Colour. She could be seen smoothing and fixing her daughter’s hair before their carriage ride and then again when the family posed together on the balcony for the fly-over.
