Prince William and Kate Middleton are hiring—but you'll have to have one very particular skill listed on your CV. The Prince and Princess of Wales are in the market for new assistant private secretary, but if you're thinking about applying, you'll have to know some conversational Welsh—but it's even better if you're fluent.

According to the job description, which is listed on the royal vacancies site, they are looking for someone to join the staff at Kensington Palace to assist in communicating and strengthening their relationship with Wales. They are also looking for candidates with "excellent communication and organizational skills."

"This is an exciting opportunity to join the dedicated team at Kensington Palace, supporting TRH the Prince and Princess of Wales," the listing reads. "The Assistant Private Secretary for Wales & UK will lead the planning and delivery for most of TRH’s public engagements in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland, and contribute to the development of the Household’s strategy to maximise impact across the constituent nations of the UK, with a particular focus on Wales."

Additionally, the role requires "proven ability to build productive relationships with a wide range of individuals and institutions." Plus, given the Prince and Princess of Wales' new titles, an understanding of the Welsh government is encouraged and conversational Welsh is a necessity, however, being fluent is preferred. Shoutout to Duolingo, everyone's favorite and very encouraging learning app, which has Welsh as one of its 43 available languages.

"You will have a proactive, hands-on approach while operating in a small and agile team, and a strong understanding of Welsh communities, affairs, government, and business," the description continued. "Conversational Welsh is essential, and fluent Welsh, both written and spoken, is desirable."

Today is the final day for candidates to submit an application.

The couple was appointed the new titles following Queen Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, and visited Wales one day after the period of mourning ended. Rev. Steven Bunting hosted Kate and William in Swansea, and he later told People that the prince was in the process of learning the ancient language.

"He talked about learning Welsh and shared some Welsh phrases he's trying to do," Bunting said. Those phrases included "paned" (meaning a cup, more specifically, tea) and "bara brith" (which translates to traditional Welsh tea bread).
