As Kate Middleton and King Charles continue to undergo treatment for cancer, the royal family is reportedly trying to keep their summer plans as normal as possible. Amid recent reports that their annual Balmoral vacation was still on the table despite Middleton's health issues, a new source now claims that Princess Kate has officially decided to join Prince William, her kids, and other key royals at the family’s go-to getaway in the Scottish Highlands this year–and they’ve officially nailed down the dates.

“It will be a rather low key affair this year where everyone will meet to just relax and unwind,” a source told Express of the family’s scaled-back vacation. According to the insider, Kate, William, and some of the other working royals will head to Balmoral–a longtime vacation spot for the family–for a little over a week after it closes to the public on August 4. While King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to arrive a little earlier to visit Castle Mey, the Prince and Princess of Wales–as well as Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis–will most likely arrive sometime in mid-August to coincide with an event, according to the source.

The Wales family will also reportedly be joined by other royals including Princess Anne, Sir Timothy Laurence, Mike and Zara Tindall, and their kids, but the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t be making an appearance–at least not until the rest of the family has left.

"Harry and Meghan will not be joining the rest of the Royal Family in August," the source said, adding that King Charles is keen for the getaway to be a “happy family occasion." However, a reunion with Prince Harry and Meghan (and their kids) isn’t completely off the table, despite the royal family’s ongoing feud.

“The Sussexes will not be part of that meeting but may join the king at a later date when the queen and the rest of the royal family have left,” the source continued, revealing that King Charles could be extending an olive branch in order to potentially spend time with his California grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, this summer. "Charles really does want to build a better relationship with Archie and Lili and spend quality time with them,” the insider added.
