Kate Middleton Hid a Sweet Message in Prince Louis's Sixth Birthday Portrait

Kate Middleton is still taking the time for the important things amid her cancer treatment. On April 23, the Princess of Wales returned to Instagram with Prince Louis's official sixth birthday portrait in celebration of him turning another year older.

"Happy 6th Birthday, Prince Louis! Thank you for all the kind wishes today," Middleton caption the photo of Louis — which sees him wearing a plaid shirt and a bright smile while sitting in a bed of grass — before signing off, "The Princess of Wales."

So how is the little prince celebrating turning six? The Independent reported that Middleton continued her long standing tradition of baking a cake and celebrating her kids aging up one year at the stroke of midnight.

“I love making the cake,” the Princess of Wales said back in 2019 during an appearance with Prince William on the BBC's A Berry Royal Christmas with Mary Berry. “It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ‘til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing, and I make far too much, but I love it.”

Middleton's birthday portrait comes amid her receiving cancer treatment. She revealed the news of her diagnosis through a video message shared through the Wales' official social media accounts, and in it, asked for the public to grant her privacy while dealing with Louis, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

"It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that’s appropriate for them and to reassure them that I’m going to be okay," she said in her March 22 video message. "As I’ve said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits." In time time since the announcement, Middleton had taken a step back from royal duties.
