Jennifer Lopez Is Making the Best of Her Summer, But It's Not "What She Originally Had Planned"

Jennifer Lopez isn't letting her marriage troubles with Ben Affleck stop her from having a great summer, but spending her birthday and the entire season without her husband by her side was not what she had in mind.

"Her summer isn't exactly what she originally had planned, but she's making the best of it. She's always grateful for family time," a source told People.

Lopez recently celebrated her 55th birthday with a Bridgerton-themed party over the weekend, and dressed up like a literal queen for the event. (She also ushered in her new era by posting a thirst trap of her in a bathing suit to Instagram, as one does.) People's source revealed that she enjoyed the event as much as the pictures suggested: "She had a great weekend with family and friends. She loves entertaining and enjoyed her birthday bash. She was in a happy mood."

The "On the Floor" singer has been spending her days in the Hamptons, which serves as a return to form. A source told Entertainment Tonight that Lopez "always loves getting to spend time on the East Coast, especially during the summer, and it's been nice for her to be surrounded by friends and family who love her."

While the circumstances surrounding her Hamptons return is less than ideal, Lopez is attempting to take it in stride.

"It has been a hard year with some unexpected realizations, changes, and obstacles, but Jen is trying to view her 55th birthday as a fresh start," the source added. "She is trying not to let her situation with Ben bring her down."
