Jennifer Lopez Is Viewing Her 55th Birthday as a "Fresh Start" Amid Marital Issues With Ben Affleck

While the motto "new year, new you" is typically reserved for January 1st, it can also apply to birthdays, too. Just ask Jennifer Lopez, who is using her 55th birthday as an opportunity for reflection and reinvention. 

According to a source at Entertainment Tonight, Lopez "is doing her best to stay positive and focus on the great things in her life" amid the ongoing tabloid rumors about her marriage with Ben Affleck. Over the weekend, the multi-hyphenate celebrated another trip around the sun with a Bridgerton-themed party in the Hamptons "surrounded by friends and family who love her"—including her mom, Guadalupe Rodríguez and friend Sarah Jessica Parker. Affleck, however, was missing from the guest list.  

"It has been a hard year with some unexpected realizations, changes, and obstacles, but Jen is trying to view her 55th birthday as a fresh start," the insider added. "She is trying not to let her situation with Ben bring her down."

Despite spending the summer apart, there could still be hope for Bennifer's marriage, after all. A separate source told Us Weekly that neither Lopez nor Affleck have "made a decision" regarding their future and there is a "sliver of hope" for them to reconcile. 

“They are going through so much individually and as a couple. They may take some time to see if this complicated moment can resolve itself and they come back to each other [as] better people,” the source said, adding that Ben and Jen "don't hate each other," but are going through "difficult times."
