You'd think a Coppola biopic on Priscilla Presley would be a cinch to finance. That was decidedly not the case.
IndieWire can confirm Lisa Marie called Coppola's initial draft of the script a "jaded reality" that cast Elvis as a "predator."

Venice: Presley was not part of the Venice press conference for Coppola's "Priscilla" but agreed to take the mic, clarifying the details about her relationship with Elvis.
"I was struck by how much I connected with it emotionally," Coppola said of Presley's memoir.
"They’re protective of their brand," writer-director Coppola said. "But that made us be more creative."Â
Coppola has already compared the film to her own critically acclaimed "Marie Antoinette."
"I’m certain this movie will take everyone on an emotional journey," Presley said of executive producing the period piece starring Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny.
The singer-songwriter and philanthropist is survived by her family, including mother Priscilla Presley and daughter Riley Keough.
"She was going through all the stages of young womanhood in such an amplified world," Coppola said, comparing Graceland to Versailles.
Cailee Spaeny ("Mare of Easttown") is set to star as Priscilla Presley for the film based on memoir "Elvis and Me."
"He loved, loved being around Blacks and being around anyone actually," she said during "Piers Morgan Uncensored."
