Rebecca Perlman is a partner at Kirkland & Ellis. Prior to that she was a partner at the international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, where she headrf up the firm’s global impact investment and social finance practice and leads the firm’s ESG practice in the UK, US and EMEA. She was also a senior member of HSF’s global charities practice.
Rebecca specialises in advising public, private and third sector clients on domestic and international impact investment transactions and on ESG matters, more broadly. She has spent time on secondment with the UK’s National Council for Civil Liberties and with the Government of Sierra Leone, where she advised on the country’s response to the 2014 Ebola crisis.
Rebecca has been recognised in The Lawyer’s Hot 100 for her work on ESG matters and in NatWest’s WISE100 list of the UK’s most influential women in impact investing. In addition to being an Institute board member, she is the Chair of the Big Issue Invest Trust and a trustee of the UN Refugee Agency’s UK charity.
