Trista: Do you, Trista Miller, realize that life is short and if you spend all your time waiting on a job or the One, that you waste a perfectly good chance to be happy. I do. Then by the power vested in you, I make a new vow that single or married, working or not, that you will never wait for anything outside of yourself to change, before you choose to be happy. You may kiss the new you.
Regina Hall is perfectly sufficient as Trista, as is Stephen Bishop as Nate; the latter, who I remember from 'Imposters', is rather underused - a pure romance comedy with him and Hall could've been very good. The rest, e.g. Jill Scott (Viviane), are fine.
The boring premise is what lets this film down. You know what's going to happen from the opening minutes, unfortunately they don't do enough to sway your thought process away from the obvious. Other parts, like the music, dialogue and humour, are also poor; Jason Rogel's Mikiko is all that drew a laugh from me.
Overall, a poor film - which is a shame, as this likeable cast should've been utilised better.
