Finally watched Shabri today,
One of the finest movie I have seen in 2011. Set in Mumbai slums, a story of woman gangster, which I think has never been attempted before.
It's dark, real with brooding intensity, equally well shot in stark black and white canvas, the performance of each character is so realistic. The movie totally grips you and keeps engrossed till the very end, kudos to the debut director Lalit Marathe.
Pradeep Rawat and Raj Arjun's acting was also brilliant, though felt Zakir Hussain's character was not developed enough, but his acting was competent enough in whatever was required from him. The background score also adds up to the movie perfectly
But the heart and soul of the film is Isha, completely in a deglam role, suiting the character perfectly. Such a restrained performance, the anguish, the pain, the anger, brought out so well. The expressions just through eyes are chilling enough. Dynamic and striking performance.
Take a bow Isha, eagerly waiting for Shabri -2.
