The deaths in the film are a reference to Mohamed Bouazizi, a street vendor whose self-immolation in protest to the confiscation of his wares triggered the Tunisian Revolution.
The film's release print was completed on 8 May 2022, just over two weeks before premiering at the Cannes Film Festival.
