Imax continues to leverage Hollywood’s ongoing box office recovery as the film technologies company unveiled its third-quarter financial results on Wednesday.

With cinema-going rebounding post-Hollywood strikes, Imax posted revenue of $91.5 million for the latest financial quarter, down 12 percent from revenue of $103.9 million during the year-ago period when Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer played on its screens.

Third quarter profits at $13.9 million was up 16 percent on profits of $12 million in the third quarter last year. The adjusted net profit per share in Q3 came to 35 cents, which matched a 35 cents adjusted earnings per-share in the same year-ago period.

Content Solutions revenues — or business from agreements with the major studios and filmmakers — at $30 million was down 32 percent year-over-year. With Deadpool & Wolverine and Alien: Romulus on its screens during the latest quarter, Imax saw its global box office haul come to $239 million.

Ant-Man 3, also known as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, was released in the theatres last February. It featured Paul Rudd in the lead role, reprising Scott Lang’s character, aka the Ant-Man. It was the first movie in Phase Five and marked the entry of Kang the Conqueror [played by Jonathan Majors]. Majors made his MCU feature debut with this movie. It was planned to set Majors as the next big baddie in the MCU after Thanos, but Jonathan was arrested around a month after the film’s release. The guilty verdict let Disney fire the Kang actor and steer their future projects away from Kang.

2013's Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is widely regarded as a box office disappointment, if not an outright flop, but a new report reveals that the MCU threequel actually did turn a small - and we mean small - profit.

The third Ant-Man movie had a reported budget of around $200 million (before marketing costs), and ended up taking in $476 million worldwide by the end of its theatrical run. Analysts predicted that the movie would need to pass the $500 million mark just to break even, but not according to Forbes.

"The super hero flick debuted in February last year to a lukewarm reception and only grossed $476.07 million according to industry analyst Box Office Mojo. Studios typically receive around 50% of the takings meaning that Disney got around $238.05 million which was $92.05 million less than its net spending on making the movie, as we recently revealed."

Apparently, Quantumania earned a profit of $88,236 after expenses were factored in.

It's been an interesting time for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The franchise that once dominated the box office two or three times a year has suffered a number of blows in recent years that had many questioning the endurance of its drawing power.

Films such as Eternals, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and The Marvels failed to achieve the levels of success that even some of the franchise's solid performers did, resulting in a new approach and an overhaul to Marvel Studios' release strategy. It also reportedly ensured that they would focus on quality over quantity going forward, spending more time perfecting the titles that are still in the works (and perhaps even cancelling some shows it might have been open to bringing back once upon a time).

The Marvel Cinematic Universe started out with some very bland villains. For most of Phases One and Two, the villains were all formulaic mirrors of the heroes without much in terms of complexity, who (mostly) ended up dead by the end of the film. Then everything changed with Thanos. Sure, there were exceptions before, like Loki, and Killmonger, but the Infinity Saga really went up on a high note when Thanos was brought back as the main villain of the MCU.

Paramount Pictures' and director Edgar Wright's long-gestating adaptation of Stephen King's The Running Man is finally moving forward with Glen Powell in the lead role of Ben Richards, and one supporting cast member has now been confirmed.

Daniel Richtman recently claimed that Katy O'Brian was being eyed for a supporting role in the project, and THR is reporting that she has officially joined the cast.

We had assumed that O'Brian would play one of the two significant female characters in the book -  Richards' wife Shelia or his hostage, Amelia - but the trade reveals that she will actually play another contestant on the lethal TV show of the title.

O'Brian had a small role in season 3 of The Mandalorian, and also played Jentorra in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. She's been getting a lot of attention in Hollywood thanks to her more recent work in Love Lies Bleeding.

The 35-year-old actor was revealed back in April to star in a new adaptation of Stephen King‘s “The Running Man” for Paramount.

Months later, the studio has announced a release date and the casting addition of Katy O’Brian.

The movie follows Ben Richards, a struggling man who participates in a reality show called The Running Man to win enough money to save his sick daughter.

Glen is set to play Ben, while Katy has reportedly been cast as one of the contestants on the show, according to THR.

The Running Man will be co-written and directed by Edgar Wright, with Michael Bacall co-writing. Paramount has given the film the release date of November 21, 2025.

This will mark an on-screen reunion of Glen and Katy, as they both were in Twisters together!

THR reports that Katy O’Brian, who broke out in a big way with Love Lies Bleeding, is set to join Glen Powell in Edgar Wright’s The Running Man.

Powell stars as a “desperate man, needing money for his sick daughter, who joins the most popular show, The Running Man, in which teams of killers hunt down contestants. The longer that a contestant survives, the more money that person makes. But as the game show’s producers and killers will find out, this desperate man will break all the rules and expose the show’s dark secrets.” O’Brian will play one of the contestants on the show. This won’t be the first time Powell and O’Brian have worked together, as they both appeared in Twisters, with O’Brian playing one of the members of the storm-chasing crew.

Edgar Wright is directing The Running Man from a script he co-wrote with Michael Bacall.

Rarely has the MCU ever had to deal with the PR nightmare that was Jonathan Majors’ indictment on charges of domestic violence. The court verdict immediately followed suit with Marvel Studios dropping the actor, essentially derailing their multiverse saga altogether.
