Vikky Varun initially set out to become a movie director. He worked for a few years in the south indian movie industry (kannada film industry , also known as Sandalwood) as an assistant in this field & one day was offered a lead role in the kannada movie "Kendasampige" which became successful and critically acclaimed. This movie earned him a nomination for best debut actor male in the SIIMA awards (2016).
