Markina Brown
- Actress
Markina DeShawn Brown an only child, was born and raised on Detroit's east side. As a child, she spent more than 15 years in constant training and competition in acrobatic gymnastics. It was during those years, that her appreciation for hard work, dedication, and discipline was born.
Brown has worked in several cities including New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta as a TV news meteorologist, but in 2014 she decided that her heart was in acting. Her respect for the craft triggered that same discipline she learned as a gymnast, so she left her TV news job and started training with some of the best and most respected acting coaches from New York to LA, London and Atlanta...and she's been going ever since.
She's starred in various projects including the Emmy award winning TV mini-series Dahmer-Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and S.W.A.T. Several recurring guest star roles including Hulu's Interior Chinatown and Tyler Perry's The Haves and The Have Nots. She can also be seen in the film Peppermint starring Jennifer Garner, the hit TV series Mr. Mercedes and the Ang Lee directed film Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk.
When she's not on set shooting a film, television show or commercial, even all these years later...you can still find Markina training in an acting class. She says, "For me, the gratification comes in the doing, not the results and that's why I do it."
