She was raised from infancy at Sunset Zoo in Manhattan, Kansas. At the age of six months, she was obtained by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Leonard of Kansas, who trained her to perform in animal acts. After being featured in 1966's The Night of the Grizzly, she was obtained by Lloyd Beebe of Olympic Game Farm in Sequim, Washington, who owned her until her death in 1999. She became famous as 'Ben' on The Life and Times of Grizzly Adams film and TV series.
